Doha, (SANA)-Culture Minister Riyad Naasan Agha said Syria seeks that its cultural activities would be of a high quality during ''Doha, a Capital of Arab Culture '' festivity,
so as to match the fraternal relations between the two countries.
In a statement on the eve of launching the Syrian cultural week in Doha on Sunday, Naasan Agha said, ''We came with a huge cultural delegation, huge not in number but rather in quality.
There is a play to be performed by the Syrian band, symphony band for children, singing bands, miscellaneous exhibitions, books and lectures,''.
''Doha is eligible to be declared a capital of Arab culture where infrastructure is so firm, upon which the modern cultural movement can be built. Qatar is regaining its cultural presence with greater vigor and potential,'' he added.
Qatari Culture Minister Hamad Bin Abdulaziz al-Kawari said in a statement the Syrian participation was crowned by President Bashar al-Assad's and Mrs.
Asmaa al-Assad's participation in the opening ceremony of ''Doha, a Capital of Arab Culture 2010 '' festivity, which reflects the firm relationship between leaderships and peoples of the two countries.
He added Syria's participation stems from its belief in the role of culture in the renaissance of peoples, which comes as a manifestation of Damascus efforts to make the festivity a success.
Activities of the Syrian Cultural Week start on Sunday with the dancing epic ''The Canaanite Iliad'' by Ornina Band on Qatar National Theater and a number of exhibitions are to be opened.
