[ Heavy Rains in Most of the Syrian Provinces, 10 CM of Snow in Serghaya and Irneh ]
Damascus, (SANA)-Syria is still influenced by an active low pressure front at all layers of the atmosphere with a cold air mass as heavy rains and snow on Monday prevailed most of the Syrian areas.
Snow in Serghaya and Irneh is 10 cm high, while the heaviest rainfall was in al-Safsafah in Tartous (85 mm), Hadar in Qunaitirah (68 mm), al-Haramoun (47 mm) and Kasyoun (25 mm).
The Meteorology Department said that the temperature is from 2 to 4 ˚C below average, expecting that the weather will be rainy and cloudy with thunderstorms in most of the provinces.
It added that snow will fall over 1000-meter high mountains, warning against the formation of floods in the valleys and slopes.
The low pressure front will gradually recede beginning on Monday night, with expectations of partly clear weather for Monday evening. A southwesterly moderate- speed wind with active gusts will blow at different areas.
The department warned against the formation of fog and frost at the mountains and most of the inland areas, adding that the temperature will be from 3 to 6 ˚C below average on Tuesday.
All Syrian governorates witnessed rainfall of differing intensity during the pat 24 hours.
The rainfall in Damascus and Damascus Countryside show signs of a plentiful season, the first sign of which was the early eruption of Ein al-Fijeh spring and the other springs in the Barda and al-Aawaj basin.
