[ Italian Imports from Syria up by 47.7 % Last Year ]
Rome, (SANA)-Italian imports from Syria in the first nine months of 2009 amounted to 306. 1 million Euro, making an increase of 47. 7 %, according to the Italian Institute of Statistics of Italy (ISTAT). The Institute added that the Italian exports to Syria in the same period reached 473. 7 million Euro, falling by 41. 3 % compared with the same period in 2008.
The volume of trade exchange also witnessed an increase in the exports of cars and machinery by 2 %, metal products by 7. 9 %, foodstuff by 62 %, clothes by 24. 3 % and furniture by 67 %, whereas, a drop was noticed in the exports of chemicals by 31 % and electric appliances by 1. 1 %.
